What to order
Why go
Every town has one bakery that quietly anchors its mornings, and in San Pedro this is it: trays of empanadas de llama y queso, quiches, kuchen and juice pressed to order, at prices that make the café row on Caracoles look expensive. It is a takeaway-first counter with a few tables, and the pace matches — order, pay, go eat in the sun.
One honest caveat: El Tatio departures leave around 04:00–05:00, before any bakery opens — so buy pastries the afternoon before and let the emporio serve you on later-starting days. Breakfast runs US$ 3–8 (≈ CLP 3,000–8,000), which is why it stars in our San Pedro budget guide. Stocking up before the drive out to Machuca or the lagoons works the same way.
