Why travelers pick it
Casa Atacama (under the NOI group) is the minimalist answer to San Pedro's rustic-maximalist norm: 20 rooms of clean adobe lines, big windows onto walled gardens, and a pool deck framed by desert plants. It sits on a quiet eastern edge about seven minutes' walk from the plaza.
Position it in the market: above Cumbres in intimacy, below Nayara and Tierra Atacama in price, with a restaurant that takes local ingredients seriously and half-board if you want dinners solved. For many couples it is the sweet spot between boutique hotel and full lodge.
Good to know
Noise: very low — the property is bordered by vacant lots and desert scrub; the hum of town disappears at night.
Heating: rooms have individual heating and good bedding; the adobe shell keeps afternoons cool, so pack layers for the day–night swing.
Pool reality check: unheated and best between 14:00 and 18:00; in June–August even midday dips are short. Salt lagoons like Laguna Cejar offer the region's real floating fix.
Water: low-flow everything and bottle refills; the desert's water budget is real and the hotel takes it seriously.
Layout: single-storey blocks around the garden — no long internal hikes, and most rooms get morning sun on their terraces.
Booking tips
High-season doubles typically land at US$ 400–700; shoulder months (April–May, September–October) can come in well below that — flexible dates pay off here.
If you plan dinners at the hotel, price the half-board supplement against town restaurant costs before deciding; the kitchen is good enough that it often wins.
Transfers from Calama airport (about 1 h 15 min) can be added to the reservation — send flight details early in high season.
